Color Selection for a Brand

on March 7, 2023by manage-pikvector

Colors are key to life and without colors, there is no joy in life. The most beautiful planet in the solar system is our earth which is due to its colorful nature and design. Human nature depends on colors as well. The colors allow us to decide whether we like an object or not. It allows us to sort out things that are too similar. The beauty of colors is that they can also combine to make a new color so color selection is most important thing.

As we know that science has proved that our eyes can identify 16 million colors but these can be viewed on physical media to make a noticeable difference. This demands a standard color to be made and labeled which makes them non-repeating such as a Pantone book made in which all the registered color variations.

We decide what color to wear to go to a function, school a job then it is most certainly very decisive in your brand’s logo, store, and design. Like a hot sauce company will never brand its logo in a blue color as it will always choose a red color or similar to it.

The colors describe your brand with a glance of the customer who sees it. You cannot choose a dark and dull color for an energetic and fun company logo. This will not even allow you to progress from start and thus make you fail easily.

There are certain criteria to choose from a brand and including as follow:

1. Distinction

A specific color is used to analyze and differentiate between color palettes (Color Selection) to specify a category. It is made to differentiate between you and your competition either you make your colors look similar to them or you decide to completely change it from them.

2. Expressive

Colors are used to express and provoke emotions in humans. For example, if red is selected as a theme, it can either be danger or energetic. Culture also takes part in color selection like Canadian sites would prefer to add a red and white theme to symbolize their flag.

3. Practically Suitable

We can make the colors in the digital form and make it look good and very unique but

If it is too imaginative and cannot be applied in actual world then it is rendered useless. This is why selection of colors is important as it should be easy to print and apply on other products. This is more noticeable if you are a product development company and work on production scale as well.

A brand should at least have five colors to express dominance as a main color representing brand, a secondary color which support or complement the first one. A dark color for light applications and a light color for dark applications. A single-color logo with grey scale effect.
